8 Reasons Why The Christian Community Is Important

===========================================
Overview
===========================================
Fundamentally, human beings are wired to connect with other people. People need to socialize and spend time with others. What happens when we attempt to socially alienate ourselves? What is the consequence? In the study of sociology, the concept of social alienation can relate to many different disciplinary uses. There are two factors that affect people: subjectively and objectively. The two factors are the personal psychological state (subjective) and the type of social relationship (objective). There are specific examples that are theorized by experts. A good example would be a child distancing himself or herself from their parents. When we distance ourselves, we feel lonely and depressed. We feel less connected to reality. Regardless of the reason, my focus here is that distancing ourselves from community can affect us personally (there are also other correlations).

This is especially true in the Christian Community. What happens when a believer distance (for a long-term) himself or herself from the Church intentionally or because of some inconvenience? From Small Group? From Fellowship? From Christians? Some believers think that Christianity is a private or personal religion where it is simply just a "Jesus and I" type of religion. Some believers prefer to stay at home and listen to online sermons. Some believers separate themselves from the Church because they believe it is filled with hypocrites. Some believers separate themselves from the Church because they do not have time or are too busy or too tired, the response to which is that I question their priority.

There may be various reasons. Nonetheless, Christians who don't connect with other believers regularly have missed the important and vital point of God's purpose for the Church. God gave us the Church - not the building. When you read and study the New Testament, there is a strong emphasis on Christian Community. Recommended reading would on the book of Acts, Ephesians and Hebrews, if you intend to do a topical study.

Let me provide 8 good reasons why the Christian Community is important - not in any particular order.

Reasons
===========================================
The Christian Community Is Important because:

  1. God designed the Church to be a community where Christians can, in a practically way, demonstrate love for one another (1 John 3:16-18).
  2. God designed the Church to be a community where Christians can share life together, be discipled and grow spiritually (Acts 2:42-47).
  3. God designed the Church to be a community where prayer together can stimulate power and unity (Acts 1:14; Acts 4:31; Acts 6:4-6).
  4. God designed the Church to be a community where Christians can mutually exhort one another to live by faith until the end, and can protect one another from hardness of heart and keep each other accountable (Galatians 6:1; Hebrews 3:12-14; Hebrews 10:24-25).
  5. God designed the Church to be a community where leaders are raised up to lead and serve (1 Timothy 3:1-13; Acts 6; Ephesians 4:11-12), so Christians can learn and submit to their leaders (Hebrews 13:7; Hebrews 13:17).
  6. God designed the Church to be a community where widows and orphans are taken care of (1 Timothy 5:1-16; James 1:26-27).
  7. God designed the Church to be a community where God's love is reflected to the world (John 13:34-35; Matthew 5:13-16; John 17:20-26).
  8. Jesus loved and gave Himself up for the Church. Therefore, we ought to follow Jesus' example to some degree (Ephesians 5:25-27).
