Sleeping Beauty

Today, it was my first time stepping into C4C Summer Bible Study.
Kevin had a very interesting topic called "Mind of Christ".
I totally learned a lot about having the mind of Christ, but also being transformed by renewing ourselves with it.
During supper, Sam and I were questioning each other regarding about "where does our souls go when we die?"
I asked him about Lazurus, while he asked me specifically about US, our souls.
For my whole Christian life, I was always taught that we will face judgment and then be sent to either heaven or hell after we die, which is true.
However, another thing that has been raised up recently from the past was that we don't IMMEDIATELY meet those aspects just yet.
I was confused by that.
Will our souls be floating around? Or just stuck in the place where the essence of time is not happening?
I answered Sam, "Won't we be in front of the throne of God [and face judgment]?"
That is true, but NOT IMMEDIATELY.
Sam brought one word and swiped away my confusion: asleep.
Holy Spirit taught me something about our souls.
It is true, even Jesus said something about the dead girl in Luke 8, "She is not dead, but ASLEEP."
I was ignorant for missing that part out, but I knew what Jesus meant.
I actually never thought of it that way.
I thought Jesus meant about Lazurus and that dead girl being raised up again.
That is the thing I was asking Sam about, "Where did Lazarus go between the time he was dead and the time he was resurrected?"
I heard two of my friends said that he goes to a place called Sheol.
Okay, that kind of sums up the point.
BUT, somehow, I believe that the Holy Spirit is teaching me that Lazarus was asleep.
Our "souls" sleep, meaning that after we die, basically, OUR PHYSICAL BODY is asleep until the resurrection and the face of judgment.
I did some research after I came back home from supper.
What I mean by resurrection is when we are asleep in our "graves" and then we will rise again from the dead after the sound of the trumpet.
In Revelation, the word, trumpet, is used a lot.
What did John meant? (I still need to research that).
You know that when a King or a Prince walks to the throne when they either coming back from war or from a journey?
How would the servant welcome them?
They would blow their trumpet, and all the people would either be sound awake and stop working and welcome the king or the prince back.
Interesting analogy from the medieval times.
When Jesus is riding on His white horse, it will be a very loud moment, and all of us will be woken up and being raised.
I encourage all of us to SERIOUSLY read Revelation very carefully, such as Revelation 8:6 - 9:21; 11:15-18
But, I am going to stop here for now because I don't have much to say.
Right now, I am going to share a little bit of what I am doing with my devotions.
I am reading the whole Bible.
I am not doing it just for the sake of knowledge or the idea of it, but I want to get intimate into knowing Him and knowing how He worked in the Old Testament and New Testament.
I enjoy knowing God's sovereignty and His passion for the Israelite.

  1. lol, i like how you named this sleeping beauty.so it make us wonder what do those ppl say that their loved ones are now with jesus...eg. pastors at funerals saying. "______, is now off to a better place, he is with our lord jesus." are they really with jesus rejoicing? or awaiting that day?and what if we have spirutla insomnia (cant sleep). will our spirit remain having consciousness on the earth as we await that glorious day?

  2. Something else to think about Tommy. What did Christ mean then when He told the thief on the cross that "today you will be with me in Paradise"? (Luke 23:43) Something that is important to remember, is that God is outside of time. We shall all in either one place or another immediately, however perhaps our "immediately" when dead is not the same as our "immediately" when we are alive. . .

  3. Hey Christina! Good thought though. I was thinking about that too the other day...I think. And yes, God is outside of time. But yeah, I'll research it more when I finish looking the Bible. My goal is to get a glimpse of the whole Bible and know and understand our unchanging God and His work among the people.
